Book Reviews: March 2016

I totally failed at reading this month ... I mean, totally and completely failed... BOOOO!
Linking up with Steph and Jana.

My sister recommended this book to me.  While I am glad that I read this book and I feel like it had potential, I don't really feel like it lived up to that potential.  I feel like most of the characters were just way too two dimensional.  I really felt no connection to the shooter at all which is just not good for a book like this.  Actually, I really didn't connect with any of the characters.  I feel like this was way too black and white and we all know that school shootings are never black and white.  Like I said, I feel like this book had potential I just don't think it was well developed.  I don't really know if I would recommend it or not, but I will say that it was a quick read.
I gave this book a 3/5 on my GoodReads.

This is a book that was definitely way different than I was expecting but I loved it just the same.  I had heard nothing but good things about this book, and I really had no idea what it was going to be about.  As the title suggests, it is a book about the life of A.J. Fikry.  Normally, I would find a book like this one boring but there was something about the way it was written that made it so emotional.  I also love that I had really strong feelings about all of the characters, I connected to them way more than I expected.  I found my self laughing and crying so many different times through it - I just loved it.  I can't recommend this book highly enough.
I gave this book a 4/5 on my GoodReads.
