The First Day

The first day of our vacation was definitely a long one.  Our flight was at 1140am so our day started around 8ish.  We made it to the airport in good time and luckily didn't have much waiting around time.  Since Josh and I are Southwest members and did the auto check in, we were one of the first to board and got the coveted emergency exit seats which we saved for our friend Brandon who is like 6'3".  And by some miracle, all 8 of us ended up sitting together.  Once we got to Fort Lauderdale we went to the TriRail station to head into Miami.  We took the TriRail and Metro because combined it only cost $7.25, but if I had to do it again, I would just take a taxi because it took forever.  We got off the metro at Brickell station and ended up walking in circles the wrong way before we finally found our hotel.  To say we were exhausted was an understatement! Luckily though our friend Westgate had a friend in Florida who drove him, Brandon and most of the luggage to the hotel for us, so we weren't lugging all that around.

John and Kristin (our AZ friends) and Johns parents (who they were visiting in FL) met us at the hotel.  We spent the rest of the night having a few drinks, catching up, and playing around in the pool.  Once we got to the hotel it was a great start to our vacation!
