Roatan, Honduras

Carnival definitely saved the best for last on our honeymoon cruise!  I knew before we even docked that I was going to love Roatan!  Instead of pulling up to sites of high rise buildings and hotels, all I could see was trees.  We docked and immediately went to shore to meet up with our excursion, which was amazing and I can't wait to share about it over the next few days!

We had a bit of a drive from Mahogany Bay to West Bay so we got to see a lot of the island.  Josh took some photos on the drive which I'll share, but beware, they definitely have a glare.  The port was also really nice.  It was laid out very well and was very clean.   Anyway, here is my introduction to Roatan.

Belize City Port, Belize

Friday, November 27, 2015

Once we finished our snorkeling excursion, we had about 2 hours before we had to be back to the ship.  Once the boat dropped us on the ship we dropped some stuff off at our room and headed down to catch the tender boat to Belize City.

Unfortunately, we really didn't get to see much of Belize City.  Once we finally figured out how to get out of the port we stepped out and were immediately harassed by people wanting to braid our hair or give us a taxi ride, etc.  By then we only had an hour to wander and it just didn't seem worth it.  So we turned around and went back into the port area.   We just wandered a bit and I got my magnet and we got some Belizian Chocolate from a local store.

I had originally wanted to do a Mayan Ruins tour but Josh was super paranoid about Belize for some reason so we just did the snorkel.  I do wish we had done the ruins tour so we could have seen more of the country.  Unfortunately, we didn't see much more than the port.

Happy TG!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!  I will be working most of the day but will hopefully get some family time afterwards.

Snorkeling Rendezvous Caye, Belize

Wednesday, November 25, 2015

Belize is one of those ports you have to tender to if you want to get to Belize City.  With our excursion we actually went the opposite direction.  We headed off the coast to Rendezvous Caye, a tiny 3 acre island in Belize's Barrier Reef.

This was our first time snorkeling and I was a bit nervous because I have never liked those face masks, but it ended up being fine for me.  Josh, on the other hand, did not have a good time with this.  He kept having issues with his mask, so he had the kayak guy take him back to shore.  I really enjoyed snorkeling and think this was a great first experience.   The reef wasn't quite as large as I was expecting, but I was with the beginners so that may have something to do with it.  The more experienced snorkelers went to the other side of the island and I think there was more there.   After snorkeling, we had time to grab a bite to eat and relax for about an hour and a half.

The boat ride to and from was very enjoyable.  It was about 45 minutes long and the views were amazing.  We were also able to talk to one of the guides about Belize and it's culture, which was great.

This is a Bucket List item:
